Farmall M Belt Pulley questions

Replacing the seal on the belt pully on my M. Have the shaft pulled out, now what do I do? Can"t figure out how to get at the seal. Do I unscrew the bolts on the end of the shaft? Do I have to remove the outside bearing? Also what weight oil & type goes back in the housing? How much is suppose does the housing hold as I don"t see a overflow plug to unscrew to be sure I have the fluid at the right level. The old fluid was real sludgee.

you need a press to press out the gear and bearings from the shaft, after you remove the two end bolts.
clean the sludge out from the basin and put it back in.
be sure to align the shims so the drain holes line up.
no need to refill the basin.
the input shaft will sling oil up there.

After assembly I like to add some oil (1 pint or so of transmission lube) to insure no dry bearings.
Carefully clean the shims and put a VERY THIN coating of silicone sealant on each one before assembly.
There are different length of capscrews for the cover at the bevel gear cover and the cover behind the pulley flange; do not interchange them.
