Jacobsen UV4

I have a Jacobson UV4. My Grandpa Bud was an electrical engineer for Jacobson. I still have the 1984 "60th annual company picnic" key chain that he kept the key on. My sons are the 5th generation to drive this beloved beast. It is a family heirloom. It recently burned up a wheel baring does anybody know wear to get a replacement or what I would have to do to retrofit something?

most people take whatever bearing to the bearing shop. They measure it up and give you anew one.

It's most likely a common bearing and a bearing house can match it up but why not see if the Jake commercial dealer has a parts book? UV-4's are a good machine, especially the newer models. My dad sold them new and we had a 1976 he took in trade. I think that was the first year for them but they improved them a couple years later. Before Jacobsen bought Bruce Manufacturing, he had a fibreglass bodied demo PUG that evolved into the UV-4.

There is almost nothing left of the old wheel bearing and I don"t want to have to pull the other side if I can avoid it. I contacted Jacobsen and they helped me to find the ID tag. They thought it was made by Peerless-Tecumseh. Turns out mine was made by HAXCO. Still hunting down parts but I have some leads that look promising. Thanks for everybody"s help.
