Hello
Can anyone help
I recently bought a Ferguson engine serial # Z120-600. I was informed it was a TO20. Information was from a restoration site. is this correct. Next problem Tractor starts runs for 1-3 seconds then quits. I have noticed that carburetor choke is very lose. There is a rod that connects to choke and it is very loose. At first tractor started rough but it did start. Drove tractor around on level ground. When I drove tractor on rough ground that is when it started running for 1-3 sec and cutting off. Also tractor has to sit for a little while before trying to start. Also smell gas. Like it has flooded out.

time for carb attention. i bet the flaot and needle need help.

both flooding and starvation can stall your engine.

Thanks
Do you know where I can find information on the carburetor adjustments. I am trying to find out the model of my Ferguson tractor. On the engine block there is Z120-600. The serial number behind steering wheel is 82771.

The float setting is 9/32". The idle screw is 7/8 of a turn open and the main jet is 1 1/4 turns open. That is the starting point point. After you crank it up and let it warm up you can fine tune the idle and main jet adjustments.

That serial number indicates the tractor is TO-30 (TO-60001 through TO 140000, were TO-30"s). Look on the middle left side of the block for the engine manufacturer"s data plate at the joint between th eblock and head. It should say Continental Z129 unless it"s a hybrid. Initial carb settings are 3/4 turn out on idle air mixture screw(screw in to enrich idle mixture) and 1-1/4 turns out on the main jet. never go below 1 full turn out on the main jet.

My TO-20 was doing the same thing. Turns out the sediment bowl inlet was clogged from rust breaking free from the tank. In turn, the flow to the carb was too slow to feed the engine. If you let it set, the carb would slowly fill. When you started it, it would run until the carb ran out of gas and then die.

Unhook the fuel line at the carb and see how fast the gas comes out. Mine was a drip before I cleaned the sediment bowl inlet.

I would take out the elbow fitting at the carb, make sure it is clean and do the same with the sediment bowl. If that doesn't work, then you can take your carb apart and clean it.

I'll find the link that walks you through cleaning a carb yourself. I've done it out in the field twice in the last month. Think I finally have most of the dirt and rust out of the system...

Thank for reply.
Can not read data plate.
Tractor has a TSX 361 carburetor.
Engine block has Z120-600.
What is good to clean a rusty carburetor. I took carb off, opened carb. Found rust in fuel bowl.
I called a restoration site they told me that due to engine block number Z120-600 it was a TO20. I looked on data plate behind steering wheel 82771. Plus on data plate it has something Conventry, England. I am just trying to find out correct model so I can get correct parts.
