Bondo ontop of powder coat to smooth out the surface? ya/na?

I had this EWC wagon gear I'm restoreing powder coated in green (not painted). Now as I look at it from the rear it has some dimples in the pitted frame area's. I don't know jack about body work. A bar room autobody guy told me I could DA sand it down a bit, then use some bondo to smooth it out, then re-shoot with the same color spray paint. I'd just do this in a few areas where I may put brand name decals.
What's your thoughts and give me details on what grit sand paper etc. step by step if it's a good idea!

If I'm understanding you correctly you restored the wagon gear and then powder coated it yourself and then found devits in the surface. If it were me I would sandblast the powder coating off, at least on the repair area, fill and sand the metal and then powder coat it again. If you filled the devits over the paint and then powder coated over it the first layer of paint will melt and the bondo would float to the surface.

I read it as he wants to sand, bondo, then spray paint the repair, dont think it will be repowder coated. Could be wrong. Bill

i don't know if that will work or not,all i know
is,i have a set of wheels that have been powder
coated, you can hit then will a hammer and they don't
chip, you'll need some ruff, good sand paper!

I asked about filler where I get mine done. They told me to use epoxie as opposed to regular filler because the regular filler gets very soft n the oven. Conduction was not a factor unless you were going to have it more than 1/4 inch thick.
