Weatherpack connections

I am putting together some wire harnesses for running accessories on an open station tractor and am using weatherpack connectors. Should I attempt to solder the crimped connections to prevent corrosion or will the wire seals be damaged by the heat, making the connections leak and defeating the whole purpose? Thanks.

You dont need to solder the weatherpack, you can if you really want to. In 16 yrs of using them on semi's never seen corrison in the connector. You will have to be really quick with heat & solder if going to, as it will kinda melt the rubber seal. If your really worried about it, put some electrical grease in the connector.

Be sure to get the correct crimping tool. The cheap hardware store and some auto parts store crimping tools will not give a reliable crimp.

The real weather pack crimping tool was over $300 from packard electroincs. Mac tool sells a really good for way less.

The cheapest crimping tool will give a perfectly good crimp provided the operator head is in proper operating condition.
