Rust on the innertube

Is there a good way of getting the rust pieces off of an old inertube? Othet than scraping them off. Will soaking them in any solution help?

Just scrape the rust chunks off. If you end up making a hole in the tube, then the tube was doomed for replacement anyway.

I start by airing them up a bit over full so a lot of them fall off. Also coating it with water/dish soap helps some to

I have had the same situation. It is a wise choice to remove the chunks, as I have had a flat before, when there was nothing in the tire, no hole just the rust chunks from a prior leak. I worked my way up to a wire wheel, which worked pretty well. It did not tend to go too deep too fast, because of the give of the tube I suppose. I put a fair amount of air in the tube.
