I have a 560 Farmall tractor. I finally got the oil filter canister to stop leaking from the base, but cannot stop the leak from the top nut at the copper washer. Any ideas anyone??? |

| There is a another way to stop it. Get an o ring that fits under the head of bolt and another one put between washer and canster. This has allways worked for me . You want to keep extra o rings because you will have to replace them every time you change oil filter. |

| mine was leaking too when I got it. copper washer would not hold. finally straighten it out best as I could with a brass rod and hammer. I then brazed a thick washer onto the top. Took it down to a local machine shop and had him put it in a lathe and true up the top of the washer. haven't had any problems since. |

| I went to NAPA, Advanced Auto, Fastenal, and TSC...nobody has nylon washers that size! The washer doesn't look like anything is wrong with it. The NAPA guy suggested I use sandpaper to clean it up and try it again. Hate to go to the Farmall store and pay $6 for a washer! :( |

| How much gas have you used running around trying to save a buck? Do yourself a favor and get the correct part or get used to the leak. |

| like the others have said the nylon gasket should help, take the old one with you to a good auto parts store, [carquest or napa] they usualy have a box of these and can size one up like yours so you get the proper inside and outside diameters, |

| I have had the same problem with one one an M and 706. You could try a new washer or I had better results using a nylon washer. |

If you have already replaced that copper washer and it still leaks, chances are good that someone. at some point, has over-tightened the bolt, and thus the top of the canister is now mis-shaped and collapsed. Easiest way to fix that is to find another canister. |
