I just got my carb back from getting rebuilt. What can I spray or put on the outside of the carburetor to keep it looking nice and clean so it does not get rusty?

Paint.
Boss used to rebuild the carbs. when I first started working in his shop. One day I asked why he always painted them. He said he thought the paint helped seal up the porous cast iron, around the bowl gasket, screws, etc.
But I'll bet a lot of it was just easier to get the customer happy to pay looking at a shiny new part!
Probably part of why he was so successful!

Try Cast Blast. It comes in a spray can. You can buy it regular or manifolds. Works great. Do and online serach for "Cast Blast".

I leave mine unpainted, with a dab of clear on all the brass. I hit with a mist of WD-40 or somethin' ever so often...

I use Eastwood's Extreme Diamond Clear on raw metal. It is gas resistant and holds up well. The carb below was painted with this several years ago and still looks good. I use it on brass, cast iron, steel and aluminum to keep it new looking.
