Hi guys im kind of new to the ford tractor scene this is my first tractor I traded a old IH payloader with a blown engine fpr this Ford 961 diesel today and wanted to know a little more about it. First off this tractor does not run due to a broken shaft in the injection pump it is a standadyne injection pump anyways it came with a roosamaster injection pump off a IH tractor and he believed they might interchange is this true? if not how much would it cost for a new injection pump/ new injectors for this tractor ive searched all over the internet for this info with no luck. :(

I have painted a couple dozen forklifts and am decent at painting and body work and I painted a JD 4630 last winter with great sucess it is a little beat up Im looking to restoring this tractor this winter its missing a few things like the front emblem and drawbar and also I cant read serial number to know if im getting the right parts or not any help would be apprieated to find out this info.

Oh and one more thing I can't ever leave well enough alone Im just curious I might be looking in the future to possibly putting a turbo on this tractor!! can these engines handle it? is there kits available? sorry this thread is really long but I am super excited to start working on this thing and making her shine!! a 961d, if the original or same type engine would be a 172ci diesel engine.

the oem pump should have been roosamaster.

the sn is on a flat onthe trans bellhousing aft of the starter.. however.. all the chassis parts from the 901 series will interchange with it.. and you already know the engine now.

i'd forget putting a turbo on it...

does this machine have a wide front or narrow front?

in either case you are working on a 1500-2500$ machine.. so i wouldn't sink a lotta work or $$ into it.

emblems are available... certain 3pt hitch parts for the rowcrop series will be hard to find..

ps.. you'd get more/ better answers in the FORD forum.. not the generic 'tips' forum...

thanks fir the reply!! The tractor is a wide front So it seems someone changed pump on this tractor I haven't had it running yet I thought these tractors would bring more money more like 3500-4000 all fixed and painted up but I guess not.. I will put out a post on the ford forums I didn't relize there was one

a 961 with new tires, straight tins, running well with a shiney paint job could bring 3500.

4000$ starts getting into good 3 cyl territory.

average 961 / 4000 will be in the mid 2 and up dependign on condition, .. tires mainly. new tires all around can cost 850$ by themselves near 1000$ with tubes...
