WD-45 Hydralic pump

I operated a WD-45 as a kid but don't remember much about it. When I engage the Hyd. the pump makes a loud knocking sound, is this normal? If not where do I begin to look? This a 55 model.

Only time my WD45 does that is when it is low on fluid so have you check to make sure your fluid level is as it should be????

Yeah, the dip stick kept showing empty and I would add till it was showing full. But each time I would move the front loader the oil whould show empty again. I have added quiet a bit of oil to it now but it still knocks when engaged, besides some leaks should I start to consider a new pump?

You need to start by finding out where all that fluid is going. Even if it is a bad pump if you loose that much fluid a new pump will not last long either find and fix the leaks then look at other thing. You may find that once you keep fluid in that the problem is no longer there
