carb problem

This is my method of repair on brass floats. Inspect the float and determine exactly where the crack is. Close to the mounting tab, drill a small hole. 1/16" or smaller. Get all gas out of the float. Clean, flux, and solder the cracked area. Once this is done, clean, flux, and solder the small hole you drilled. TIP: After solder flows over the hole, drag the tip of the soldering iron away from the hole so the solder cools slowly, and the cooling of the air in the float does not suck the melted solder into the float. (one or two seconds is probabgly enough).
Use no more solder than necessary so as not to disturb the floating ability of the float. Mine has been working for 12 years with no problem.
