I want to know how to remove rust behind serial tag on an lp tank? grind off tack welds and re weld or use some kind of acid?

You can search it on the internet. Basically get a small DC power supply (an AC adapter will work with a small piece of metal such as the tag)put the chemicals in a plastic container. Make sure you are hooked up correctly so you don't sacrifice the tag.Put it in the solution and let it do its work.Here is a link to get you going in the right direction.

I Have the same problem (70, 730 LPs)...Grind the tack welds off, Electrolysis the tag, clean up the place where the tag goes and then JB weld the tag back on after you have rounded the corners where the tack welds were. If you get a nice bed of epoxy the moisture and air will not get in there and you should be good to go for a long time.
