Worth fixing the gearbox on a Deutz-Fahr Tedder?

I have an old Deutz-Fahr tedder, maybe a KH-40. I think the gearbox is shot. Is it worth fixing, and if so, does anyone have tips about how to go about it? Thanks, Phil

I have an old Kuhn, which quit about two weeks ago. The input bearing was gone so the input gear was not engaging the shaft gear. All it needed was a new bearing, seal and oil. Sort money.

My old tedder had the gear box removed before I got it. The previous owner removed it and re installed the pto shaft. He told me to run her slow and adjust your ground speed. Works fine as it doesn't require much power. I believe the gear box was a 2:1 reduction so spinning at half speed now is about right.
