12 volt conversion

Has anyone ever done a 12 volt conversion on a 861 Powermaster? Would appreciate any info.

Not that tractor as such but have done many many a tractor of the years. I have a 841 same engine as the 861 so what do you need to know. I use alternators made for a 1980 Chev pick up no power any thing no AC. a radio shack diode 276-1661 in the excite wire and the mount is simple just a long 3/8 piece of all tread ad set the alternator forward of the bracket and a couple nuts to lock it in place

like old not that particular one,but several of different brands over the years.all wiring is basicaly the same,but what changes is the brackets.The one thing i would say there is dont scrimp on the metal,overbuild it if possible. Alternator has a surprising strain on it when its fully charging,and the bouncing around they take on a tractor doesnt help.most of them off cars and trucks are not meant for the beating they take off road all the time on a vehicle with no suspension.so the mounting has to be heavier.

probably half the fords out there still running have alts grafted on.

it's an ez conversion.

get a napa ic14sb voil.. no resistors. 3 wire gm 10si alternator. jump #2 to charge stud. #1 thru 194 lamp to coil side of key.. charge stud to wire that used to go to vreg bat connection. brackets you can make or get a tisco set..

Why not use a single wire alternator? Much easier.
