John Deere 70 Diesel Crank shaft repair

A couple weekends ago my flywheel became loose. The locking nut was in poor condition, but the threads on the crankshaft are not too bad. However, after buying a new locking nut, I could not get it on without the possibility of screwing up the nut threads so the end of the crank shaft needs to be re-threaded. A thread file will not work and I can not find a Die that big. Does anyone have the specs on the exact diameter of the threaded shaft and the exact size of threads. My best idea is to find a thread chaser to clean it up.
Also, I took an end play measurement and found the end play with the clutch engaged is 3/8". The manual call for .005 - .010" should I be overly concerned about this amount of play and if so, is it just a matter of taking the flywheel & Thrust cover off and adding shims to reduce the end play?

Thank you,

Robert
