Clutch troubles on my 49 8N. Adjusted linkage fully to get disengagement but once she reaches operating temperature got to gently grind in to gear. Prior to having issue, engine was overhauled and material faced off the flywheel and new clutch installed - before that worked fine. What is the OEM thickness of flywheel and dimension from flywheel to top of the clutch fingers? I"ve got the transmission pulled from the engine. Seems like if the fingers (unadjustable) were up another 1/8" I"d be OK. Any advice appreciated.

Have you checked for play between the cross shaft and the clutch release arm? I have never been into an 8N, but I was having that problem with my 9000. I was able to adjust the fingers. It maybe that the flywheel has been face one too many times. I would be tempted to add a shim to the front of the release bearing.

Thanks. I'm going to take a closer look at adjusting the fingers on the clutch. Cross shaft and fingers that engage throwout bearing are OK. Had another suggestion today to put shims under the clutch assembly mounted to the flywheel. Prefer to find the root cause tho.
