I have re assembled my freshly machined Ford 8n engine. I filled the radator with water for a test fire and had water seaping between one of the head studs and the nut. The engine has not been run yet. I checked the torque of the studs and all is at 55ft/lbs. The new gasket was coated with a spray on copper gasket sealer. I removed the head and replaced the gasket and the same thing happened but on a different stud. When I had removed the studs for the machine work I had chased the holes to clean them out and installed the studs with silicone . I did not tighten the studs into the bluck but installed them to a uniform hieght so that when the head and nuts were installed I had 1 thread exsposed above the nut. So what am I doing wrong? |

| On the N series tractor a lot of the stud/bolts go into the water jacket so you need a tread sealer of some type or you end up with the problem your having. By the way it would also be better if you asked this in the 9N/2N/8N forum |
