I have a 47 2N, whenever the tractor gets to temperature, the battery boils over. I have turned the generator to the lowest setting and I have also replaced the solenoid. Any other ideas of whats happening?
Thanks,
Chad

When the battery is boiling over, what is your ammeter reading with the throttle half open or more ?

With the engine at 1/2 throttle or better and using a volt meter what is your charging voltage across the battery terminals? On a 6 volt battery you should see 7.0-7.2 volts. If it's a lot higher you're over charging the battery. Could be the regulator. Hal

as it always done this or it this a "new" occurrence? I.e., have you ever observed it operating properly with the present generator?

(quoted from post at 14:04:20 05/04/12) Probably 90 percent of the time....just smack it with a hammer ...(the regulator) has welded itself. It happened alot years ago.
nless it has been modified, 2N shouldn't even have a regulator to smack.
