Jo- we had to pull the pump out the bottom to get the three sided plate off you told us about. Pump was oK in all aspects, and spring behind the plate also OK. We pulled the spring and plunger out, and ther are two orifices in the plunger, a large one and smaller one. The smaller one had about an inch long piece of silicone driven into it and caught on both sides in the spring. Also a couple more small pieces of silicone in where we removed the parts.
Everything else looks good, and definitely the silicone is foreign, and will advise when we get it back together. Have to order some O rings so will be about a week before we know for sure.
If you want to contact me personally,I posted my email address, but will also post results on this forum for anyone else watching.
Again thank you, and as matter of interest, the service manager at the local JD dealership didnt know that the part you told me about even existed. I realize these are old tractors, and were built before the fellow was born. ( in his defense)
