any tips on removing the crankshaft pulley from my massey 65, when i try to break the nut , the crank turns as well, were would i stabilize the shaft to remove the nut?

Is there room to get in with an impact wrench?

yes block is nearly stripped down, just when i try to remove bolt ,the crankshaft spins as well, were would i 'wedge' something to stop rotation of shaft. i see some small bore holes in the fly wheel that could possibly do the trick but i wanted to know how the experts do it

Any time I've tried to take that nut off, I've
put the transmission into gear!

Use a 6 point socket and an air impact wrench that's been mentioned. Use a 3/4 impact if you have one. Hal
PS: Make sure you're turning it CCW to loosen.

Put the tractor in gear and then use a puller on the pulley after you remove the nut.

I have put a long wrench on it and then hit the other end of the wrench with a hammer.

Use a piece of oak to jam the crankshaft from turning. Then use an air impact to loosen the nut. Hal

If you"ve pulled the oil pan, jam a 2 by 4 between the crankshaft and the block so it can"t turn.
