While in the process of trying to rebuild a Carter 2612 aluminum body carb off a 1957? Z-134 MF 50, one of the float pin supports got broken off.
I'm thinking of trying J-B weld or aluminum solder to repair.
Can anyone see any harm in trying?
Any thoughts on fixing the float pin in place without one support?
And finally, if none of the above works, suggestions on where to find a replacement carb or an upgrade that would fit?
Thanks for any replies.

I don't think the float would function properly with only one pin support. Chances are it would bind and cause problems. I think I would try t locate another carb.

JB Welding the support back on will hold it for a while. However when exposed constantly to gasoline, JB Weld will eventually soften and let go - even when fully cured.

Better to take the casting to a good welder and have him heliarc the tab back on. Or go for a replacement carb.

JB Weld might work, but make sure it is completely cured before introducing it to gasoline. Even then, I wouldn't spend much time on it. A Zenith or a Marvel-Schebler carburetor, either new or used is the way to fix it.

That carburetor was also used on the Oliver Super 55, 66 and Super 66 although I don't think there were a lot of them produced with it. It was also available in a cast iron version on those plus Farmall Super A, C, Super C, 200 and 230. Again I don't think it was as popular as some other make carburetors were. Lee

I believe, if it were me, I'd try soldering it, if it's brass.
