I recently acquired a 420 that was well maintained and seemed to be in good running condition. I mowed all summer with it with no problems. It recently lost power and quit on me and wouldn"t turn over. Tuned it up, changed the oil and rebuilt the carb. Ran Ok for a while, but now is giving me problems when I engage the PTO or go up hill. It also seems to be spitting fuel out the carb into the air filter. The float is fine. Any Ideas?

What kind of "trouble" is it giving when you engage the PTO or go up hill?
Makesure theair cleaner tubing is no particallyblocked.
When you say the carb is spitting fuel in to the "air filter", do you mean the oil cup?
