756 D-310 German Diesel Engine - Oil Pressure Problems

I have a 756 German Diesel engine tractor. We were baling hay and the tractor had steady 50 to 70 psi oil pressure all day. Shut tractor off and had no oil pressure. Has gauge and light and both of them indicate ZERO. Took oil pump apart and to another person for his opinion. He thinks oil pump is fine and said to change O-rings and re-install the pump - waiting on parts to come in. Tubes look good. Haven't pulled oil pan yet. Any suggestions that you could offer, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Bob

Check to see what drives your oil pump, if that looks ok I would drop the oil pan and look for a plugged screen or pickup tube broken. Hal

Be sure to pack the pump with somekind of grease or heavy oil to help the oil pump prime, also have a master gauge for the oil pressure when you start it. I witnessed a D-358 get cooked because the oil pump didn't pickup.

Is the pressure gauge a mechanical gauge or is it electric? If it is electric, most likely it operates from the same sending unit as the idiot light. If neither the light or the gauge are indicating any oil pressure, I would suspect the sending unit is faulty.
