How do you know the stat is the problem?
Taking out a working stat doesn't help. it's already wide open. Overheating is likely from a scaled rad and block from using tap water as coolant. Worn glazed fan belt which wears the pulleys. Lean mixture and/or late timing. |

| It is in the upper radiator hose if it has one. You sure that is the problem! Loose fan belt? |
