John Deere 112 engine replacement

I have a John Deere 112 riding lawn mower with a tecumseh HH100 engine in it. The engine needs to be replaced, my question is What new engine will fit into it without to much alterations. Maybe it just can't be done, I don't know. Please help!

That engine is rebuildable unless it has a hole in the block. Parts are available if you look. I saw one for sale that had a Tecumseh snowblower (Snow King) engine but the tractor had been cut up to make it fit.

Sears used HH100's and HH-120's in their LGT's if you have to go look for a rebuildable core at a boneyard.

They made the 112 with a Kohler K241 as well as with a Tecumseh HH100 but they used different frames.

The HH Tecumseh engines have been obsolete for a long time. Tecumseh is also no longer in the small engine business. Unless you really want it original, I would replace it with a Kohler since they used them in later production. Check out the JD L&G tractor site. Someone will have what you need there.
