john deere model L manure spreader

hi i just bought a john deere model L manure spreader and i need to replace the bottom boards. is there a master link in the chain? the back spreader (widespreader) is busted up too, does anyone know where i could get a used one?? any advice is welcome.... thanks greg juett
 
Not in any I have worked on. You have to back off the tention until you can fold it back pound it apart side ways. I use a block of steel and a hammer. They make a tool for that as well. If it is wore enough they will almost slide apart.

I bought a new 660 JD in 82, and when the beater went, a new one was NLA from JD, so I made my own. Yours is much older, so the only choice is a welding shop that can make one for you.
