I HAVE 1953 JUBLIE HAS 12 ALTERANTOR ON IT, 12V BATTERY, I BELEIVE COIL IS 12V ALSO, BUT IT KEEPS GOING THROUGH POINTS AND CONDENSERS IN A VERY SHORT TIME ? IS THERE SUPPOSED TO BE A RESISTOR INLINE TO CUT VOLTAGE TO COIL? OR INLINE TO POINTS HOT WIRE? IN 3-4 HRS HARD WORK THEY ARE TOAST, STARTS MISSING BAD, REPLACE POINTS & COND SMOOTH AS A KITTEN AGAIN? ANY THOUGHT ?
WAS THINKING ABOUT ELECTRONIC IGNITION AND DO AWAY WITH THEM INTIRELY?

You need a TRUE 12-Volt coil, such as a NAPA 14-SB OR a resistor ahead of a 6-Volt Coil or a "12-Volt" coil marked "Use With External Resistor".
