[b:91af28d4eb]All,[/b:91af28d4eb]

It's with a heavy heart that I must regretfully report to the community here that Dell (WA) passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 31 at the age of 80. Thank you all for the many years of companionship that you have provided my father, the old sparkie meister always spoke quite kindly of the YT community.

Signing off for the last time,

[b:91af28d4eb]Dell (WA) [/b:91af28d4eb]
(By way of his son.)

My most sincere condolences. I always got a chuckle out of his posts. Learned some thing also.

So sorry for your loss. Dell was a true gentleman. I met him one time in Dayton Ohio, we toured the Air Force Museum together. We will all miss him here.

So very sad! I always enjoyed your fathers posts. Our condolences to you and your family, Del will truely be missed.

Thanks for letting us know. You have my sympathy. His wit and knowledge will be missed forever! He will always be Mister Ford 8-N.

My deepest sympathies to you and your family on
the loss of your Dad. May he rest in peace and
make all those N's in heaven work just a little better.

He always called me ratsy. I will miss him dearly. So sorry for your loss. I hope you hang on to his tractor if you can!

Dell was one of the first here that I followed closely when I discovered this site.

He has been thanked and praised, and I add to that.

Additionally, thanks and praise for looking after him so we could have him so long and so well. As Wendell Berry says, it's not a tragedy when a man dies at the end of his life. Thank you for letting us know.

ell was a good old boy!
Once when his frankness rubbed someone the wrong way, they called him a curmudgion and I replied that I would be proud if they called me that.

When he was having computer troubles and couldnt get on yt, I contacted them on his behalf and we had a few snail mail exchanges where he sent me some of his prized anastizi (?) beans with his recepe to cook with ham hock. Wife did and. we both enjoyed. Rest in peace my man, it was a good run.

My condolences from the east side. I believe I hauled an engine for him from Jim in UT years ago.

The gates of heaven opened and called up another of the great ones. I am glad I was able to get to know Dell on this site if only for a short time.
My condolences to you and your family.

Thanks for being there for your father, he is smiling
down on you for sure.
He was an incredible character, kinda feel like he
was one of my family members.
I will miss him for sure.

God Bless all of your family in this time of mourning.

Greg

"We shall never forget him nor the
posts he's made, as he helped the folks
with their Ns. He's waved good-bye and
slipped the surly bonds of Earth to
touch the face of God."

I joined YT due to an 8N purchase. It was Dell who's posts I remembered most while lurking and then as a member. Two things I could always find when he made a post here, humor and accurate information. He will be missed here and the other places he liked to visit.

R.I.P. Dell

I am so very sorry for your loss and this deeply saddening news.

Dell helped so many with their problems, including me.

He will be sorely missed - May he rest in peace.

Sorry to hear about your dad,he will be missed, but the help he
provided here will live on. Thanks for all your help Dell.
Thanks for posting about your dad.

First off thanks for letting us know. I think you can tell by the number of replies to your posts that your father impacted many people here. I always enjoyed the humor that he used as he tried to help people.

Please accept my condolences and I wish you and your family God's Peace.

RIP Dell, you will be missed.

I always looked for his posts , It's a 2 bolt 5 min job just snaple the caple and let er dangle. I keep trying but I just can't seem to be able to do it
that fast and easy LOL. Rest in Peace Dell.

Gods speed!,Dell was a good man that helped anyone out that he could.Dell helped a lot of folks over the many years here.
RIP Dell!

Wow I will miss his posts. He had a writing style that was engaging AND informative. That was rare.RIP Sparkie Meister.

[thank you for the info on your father, he will be missed ,I've had only respect for his post ,may he rest in peace

So very sorry to hear of Dell's passing. I always looked forward to reading his posts. They were both informative and humorous. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.

Thanks for the picture! Wow cant believe that's been 9 years ago already.

It was very interesting going around that museum with Dell, he knew a lot about airplanes too.

I remember worrying about him when he was gone for a while with computer problems. I was glad when he came back. Now, I'm just sad. RIP.

Thank you for posting the sad news. Heaven has indeed gained a sparkiemeister and we've lost a good friend. Condolences to the family. RIP Dell and thanks for the memories!

a true gentle man in all senses of the word(s). Enjoyed his messages and was always looking for his posts when I encountered a problem with my ol girl. RIP

Rest In Peace, Dell. Dell had been one of the originals around here since the beginning. We should remember all the Dell colloquialisms he is going to be known for:
gitcha one; braggin? rites; ennything; iffn? it were me; simple, eh?; limppa long; I?m no mind-reader, just ask my ex-wife; connumbrum, the 6-volt mantra, keep ?em clean bright, and tight. My favorite Dell quote he said all the time was:

?I've always said that I was a 12 volt advocate for the right reasons. That said, I haven't found the right reason for my eazy starting 6 volt '52 8N. And I know how to convert it right, the first time. And its not because I'm an "originality nut" eather. The EMF hasn't moved me.? Misspelled words are his.

I propose YTMAG sets up a MEMORIAL page like we do on the other Ford N-Tractor site to recognize those Ford tractor folks who have passed on. Maybe start with Dell?

Tim Daley(MI)

Dell was one of the first folks on this board to offer this newbie assistance in 2003. My condolences to the family. RIP Dell.

"I propose YTMAG sets up a MEMORIAL page"

"Great idea. Kim, are you listening?"

We/they already have one. [b:114ba18c0a]Link[/b:114ba18c0a]

My condolences. He will be missed. Some of us younger guys who have learned much from him will need to step up and pass on the knowledge to help others like he has helped so many.

Our loss is heaven's gain! I always looked for his entries & loved his way of writing. If he had been a preacher I would have loved to hear his sermons!

I'm very sorry to hear that. It's sad that we lost 80 years of his knowledge and wit. You just can't replace that without another 80 years.

But, at 80 he did have a good run.

RIP Dell

Dear Sir,

Your Dad will be greatly missed. He was a major factor on this site and as almost everyone else has said, I too can attest that
he's helped me in the past as well. I may even have a "few fingers of scotch" in his honor. Please accept my condolences for your
loss.

Dell was a rare blend of knowledge and wit. He will be missed. Guess i'll fire up my 48 8n after i check
the dizzy and the sparkies.

Dell and i were 20/20 painters.... Found his paint standard for a working N in the archives..

painter Dell, who likes 20-20 paint jobs (look good at 20-ft or 20-mph)

Rest in Peace

I always enjoyed his posts - informative usually with a bit of humor. Dell will be missed by many. RIP dell. GordyMN

I am sorry for your loss. I learned a lot from him, never met him but his picture looked just about as I had him in my mind.A kind face with knowledge and determination. Our prayers are with you at this time.

Sorry for your loss, it was very kind of you to take the time to notify us. Your father was one of those people that many of us looked for and enjoyed his posts. His knowledge and humor will be missed by many.

Mark

My condolences to and your grieving family.A one of a kind gentleman that will be missed here.

Sleep well Dell.

It was easy to tell by his YT posts that he was a good and kindly gentleman.

Terry

I am so sorry to hear this news. I also always loved reading Dell's responses. I learned a lot from him. I even took my front mount distributor to the kitchen table to set the points. My wife complained but I told her that Dell told me that was how it was done!

RIP Sparkie Meister

So they do. Under Forum and then under Miscellaneous. Not used very much judging from the number of posts. Guess not to many people here know
about it.

Never met the guy but I enjoyed his wit and knowledge. Helped me out of a couple jams. And, yes, he looks just like I imagined. RIP

My condolences.
Always enjoyed his posts. Loved the way he wrote...kind of like speech to text. Didn't know him, but he seemed to be a "salt of the Earth" type of guy.

(By way of his son.)

Very sorry for your loss. Whenever I come to yt I seek out his posts. He is going to be missed.

I'm very sorry, he helped me, and was understanding when you didn't get it the first time. He will be missed here by all of us.

Dell has led by example of polite and friendly decorum. I do not post very much because I have little to contribute. I have t appreciated the gentle kindness of Dell. Del is respected because of his technical skills but more so as a gentleman I think.

A tragic loss his family and to the YT community. His humorous posts and invaluable knowledge will be sorely missed. Our heart felt condolences go out to his family. Rest in peace friend.

I am so sorry Son. He was really a character and just loved to stirr up things. :O) YT is going to miss him and I will too. It's like taking the
agitator out of the washing machine, it will never be the same around here.
He contributed so much here on this site.

I think I have been a member of this site for 20 years and it's a tribute to see more post about your daddy here than I have ever seen in those 20
years.

Coming in late on this but I want to express my condolences to you and your family. Dell was a genuine character and was the kind of guy that you would put on your list to visit if you were ever in his area.

I felt close to him by being a Boeing supplier for most of my life and I always thought we would have some good stories to swap.

Thank you for involving us all and giving us the chance to wish him farewell.

Best regards,
Bob Johnson

Glad to see he found his way to the memorials forum. Don't hang here lately, my 2N is in the fence row and has not run in years. Just got tired of fighting it. Dell was a great help when I was first working on it. He will be missed.

Some people leave a big hole when they’re gone, an indelible mark on you even if you’ve never met them. Godspeed Dell.

RIP Dell you will be missed by many.

As another posted, I too learned to do points on the kitchen table from him (and my SWMBO wasn't impressed either).

Wouldn't it be cool if somehow this site/moderator or elder could archive Dell's posts and re-post as appropriate to newbie's questions in the future? That surely would be a memorial to the Rev. Sparkie.
Jim B

Met Dell in person around 15+- years ago in Chattaroy, WA. at a "N" Get Together. Had fun talking about fixing 8N's and other stuff. RIP Dell you will be missed! Mark

I learned from him, and more particularly, his colorful phrases stick with me. My personal favorite of Dell's--though I imagine this one has been around a while, but I first heard it from Dell--is, "itchy twitchy fingers". I use that in class in my day job from time to time, and the kids get a laugh.

An old engineer, a builder, laid down the working tools of life. May he RIP.

My prayers go out to Dell and his family. Always enjoyed his posts, even the ones I couldn't really figure out without some careful reading. He will be missed on this forum for sure.

I have been away too long. I had hoped I wouldn't read what I read about Dell.

I, as many here have, was helped out by Dell getting my 8N running again.

I actually had something come up in the process that made him have to think for a bit...a challenge I guess. He came through.

As long as this site archives posts, He will live on.

Godspeed Dell
