Friday evening I attended a classic pull at Friestatt,MO which is 80 miles SE of me...The sled used was The Black Widow sled out of Columbus,KS...There was a total of 161 hooks which was
probably by far the biggest turn out this year for my area as most pulls have been short of pullers...Its mostly Division 2 tractors with a few Division 3 tractors....The pull started at 6 PM and I hooked
the 5000 Open at 12 midnight...I finished 2nd with a strong 301 powered D-17 Allis beating my 6000 Ford...The thing I will always remember is that just as it got dark a large swarm of mosquitos
attacked us...I think that some of us got bit 50-100 times as they wouldn't let up..Most of the spectators left..
On Saturday evening I went to a huge MSTPA,Outlaw,PPL pull at Buckner,MO which is 120 miles north of me..I got there at 4 PM and not long after the rain hit and the pull was called off a little
after 5 PM...So at 5:30 PM I headed 200 miles back south back to Friestatt,MO for the Spring River pull which started at 6 PM...I would have made it there by 8:30 PM but there had been a huge
wreck hours earlier on I-44 and traffic was still backed up for miles...It looked like a bunch of semis tangled...I finally got off on a side road and got there at 9 PM..This is one huge pull with tons of
IH's pulling several of the Out Of Field classes..Most of them drive them to 3-4 pulls that are held in that area...When I left at 12:30 AM they had lots of pulling left to do.
Once again the mosquitos were out at Friestatt and I received some more bites...Needless to say between the pulling and mosquitos very little sleep has been had for the past 2 nights..I itch from
head to foot. The funny thing is that this area had been very dry up until a couple of weeks ago and the locals said that there had been no mosquitos.
