Natpa - how strict

After seeing some pictures of the pull in Missouri today, seeing the rules and seeing which tractors were in which classes, Im wondering how much are the classes monitored? Im an mm guy and noticed a couple tractors in division 2 that had not factory manifolds and crank cases and oil pans, for certain. Is it only usually a problem if someone is complaining? Thanks

They usually check pretty close but not everyone is an expert on all the tractors. They will usually let a guy by for one pull event if something isn't correct and then on it has to be right or you don't pull.

I'm glad we have Natpa. But some of their rules just make it more expensive to build a competitive puller. Especially a MM. You can make your short blocks as big as tall blocks
But the tall blocks were 5 5/16 to start with. I worked for a MM dealer. We had a customer who had a factory U with a 403 LP engine. There were 6 cyl D17 gas AC's also
They were for.2 row cotton pickers. I just pull once.a year with them, they have.been more than fair. I might pull more but they don't let diesels pull in the winter indoors. I've told them I don't smoke much.

Actually depends on the year of tractor if you can pull a diesel or not. JP Dunn pulls an R and there are 820's and 830's that show up. Big Tee fills the building with smoke when he lights his little VAC Case up. Your 435 doesn't smoke bad but the noise level gets really bad when you open it up. LOL I have one too and they do get loud.

I thought it says no diesels at the Missouri pull this spring over by Cape Gerardo. They let me pull at Princeton In. I may take my D17 Diesel to Princeton if it gets painted by then. It will pull in.5 plus.

I like them , they did a good job of inspection of my tractor I thought.
They want you to pull safely. I do too!
All I can say is better bring your best tractors ,competition is good . As it should be ,I like pulling against the best , I like the challenge.

Why would they not let diesels pull 5+ Maybe I'll just pull Div 4 then. Or 3.lol. I did pull last summer at Elnora In. They had a class that they wouldn't let RD IHC's pull. That did leave it open for me and my D17. Plus a couple 466 diesel 460s.

Not sure on why but might be they didn't want to turn NATPA into a smoker class pull.

Yes everybody want's to protect their ride Antique pulling will die if we don't change enough to get young people. Look what letting the big block 460 560 in did for the numbers in those classes.
And letting JD people do anything they want to a 2 cyl. Next will be a 3 blower on anything. 4010's are here now. Everyone wants to pull the old tractors we grew up on.

Hey Mel--Wait until I get my NEW motor built--They are stroking the crank as I post this!!!---Tee

We added 1/2 in of stroke--then you will see some serious smoke!!!

I might take the lights, muffler and belt pulley off to get down to the 2500 lb. class

Everything is for sale. I went completely through it when I got it. It has a NOS crank in it, new sleeves and pistons, injectors, cam bushings, blower was updated with the new style seals, new fuel pump, new bearings and seals in the transmission and rear end, hydraulics rebuilt with new seals and o rings, new bilingual gauges. Needa a new starter and some power steering lines yet. Good tin on it. I have all the receipts for what I put in it and picture documentation for it. Did I say it was made in Mexico, one of 371 made down there. You wouldn't believe the amount of parts that are on that thing when you get it all apart. Everything was repainted with JD paint before I put it back together. Beans are up so I'm sure you can afford it.
