john deer A

Just spoke to a pulling friend of mine, his uncle has a jd A with a powerblock. New paint look's great, price is right. Would this make a good stock puller? Have a very competitive oliver 88 already. Just would like to pull a jd in plain stock classes. Tahnk's.

It will make good puller, especially if you lighten it up to get into 4500lb class, ofcourse it's goin take a little tweaking but they all do.

Just make sure the power block doesn't leak. They are notorious for cracking internally and leaking around the sleeve.

Always heard Olivers were good pullers. All though, I'm not an Oliver guy myself. I'd just stick with Olivers though, when it comes to tractor pulling.

What transmission is in it? I have run an early styled A in 5500 and 6500 a few times with the fast first gear and a stock motor, that thing was an absolute turd. On the other hand Ive also pulled a buddies later year A in 7500, that one had a power block 1/8 over, domes, good carb and some head work. Wide front, loaded tires. With the lower first gear on 16.9/38, pulled awesome
