Big tractors or smaller ones

We pull a farmall BN and a super C . They pull in the 2500 , 3000, 3500 lb class . Do you guys like bigger the better or the smaller stuff . If you have pictures of those baby Bs lets see them in action thanks

In my old age, I've come to prefer the little ones. They are light, easy to transport, I get to pull early and then sit in the shade and watch everybody else. I pull a Minneapolis Moline RTU in the 3500 pound class. It does well.

I like the bigger tractors. I pull an Allis WD45 in 4,500-5,000, 5,000-5,500 and 5,500 to 6,000. Als a Farmall 450 that pulls 7,500- 10,000
and 0-10,000lb. I pull farm stock and are all percentage pulls.

As with most everything it has to be personal preference. I pull with the tractors I grew up with and enjoy. I use a Model 70 pull in the 7000 and 7500lb class.

I pull 3500-4500 with my Ford 960, and 9000 to 14,000 with my Ford 9000. The problem pulling a big one in my area is there are not many anymore. You may drive three hours and have no one to hook against.

I like bigger tractors, but they take more
truck to haul. Also you get stuck helping
pickup after the pull. The guys with the
little tractors all pack up and leave
early.

With the several clubs we have around here we don't have that problem. We rotate our pulls. One pull we will pull light to heavy and at the next pull heavy to light so it's not the same people having to clean up.

Near me: very seldom see anyone above
6500lb. And those are stock.
Modified and pro stock seldom above
5500. Under 3500 have a hard time
moving sled. That's in the area where
I live.

Big tractors require bigger trucks to haul them, and a gazillion weights if you want to go real heavy.

Take a John Deere 820 for example. That thing is so huge and geared low enough it'll pull 14,000 stock.

That's a lot of suitcase weights, a lot of truck and a lot of trailer. That all equates to a lot of work and a ton of money.

My Farmall Super M is about all I care to do. Even then its borderline too much. I tried pulling 9500 with it a few times. In this club we pull a long chain softer tracks. It didn't really like that very much. I don't know if it needs adjustment or what.
If someone is pulling up to 10,000 with a 450, they must be using that T/A cause my super m wanted nothing to do with 9500! LOL Ran out of power. And I had to pile weights on the deck cause I ran out of space but still had to put 600 lbs somewhere.

That's why I generally pull 5000lb 4,
6, and 8 mph. Pull 3 times and don't
have to move more than 100lb or so
