Hi everyone. I have had alot of trouble finding a carb for my 301 puller. I was wondering if a carb off of a ih 656 would work if i got a carb guy to modify it. The part number on the carb is 381419R93 it has a 1 9/16 bore on the top of the carb. any info would be helpfull. Thanks

What tractor is this 301 in? Meaning, do you need the air cleaner coming in from the back or front?

Hi Lee460 the 301 is in a 560 but I wasn't going to have the air filter come out the top of the hood anyways. I was just going to put a filter right off the carb

Ok. The 560 is 1 1/4" updraft & the 656 is 1 3/8 which is a good thing. Most all carbs will work but it would be best to stay with a carb from a 301. I myself think they are close to being too small anyway. All carbs have different sizes of venturi, main jet bores, discharge nozzles, and so on. Carb on 715 combine would work the best. I tried one from a 403 combine that is a little smaller and it dyno the same, it specs out a little bigger than a 706. I would run a want ad here & everyehere else I know for a carb for a 715 combine. Another good place is a site called pulloff. A lot of bigger boys there with lots of leftover parts. A lot of them would be using a larger carb than a stock IH anyway and may have what you need. Good luck, Lee

Thanks Lee for all the advise. I will keep on looking for a 301 carb. If I have to I will try dennys zenith modified carb.

I was about to tell you about an earlier post on the zenith and saw that you started it. That zenith interested me also. I am running 325 cu. 4" bore stock stroke. But I have to run stock IH carb. I am not having any problems, but always thought a carb with a little more cfm would gain me some performance. Just my thoughts, I may be all wet. Good talking. Lee
