37 John Deere A Horsepower

What kind of hp am I look at with .125 over 10:1 pistons, block and crank from a 46 A, 4226 head ported and polished, value job, 71 DLTX carb, Murphy's manifold, and a berry cam grind?

Thanks.

Are you running a Mag or Distributor? What valve lift and did you relieve the eyebrows over the intake valves?

WHY WORRY ABOUT A HORSEPOWER NUMBER,PUT IT TOGETHER HOW YOU CHOOSE,RUN IT THE BEST YOU CAN,HP NUMBERS DO NOTHING TO HELP PULL.

A lot of guys like to be able to go at least half as far as the winner.

Change mag drive to later A 40-46 so you can use the 25 degree short coupler. At 10-1 you will not need 25 degree of advance and you will need to use 110 octane fuel. Tip mag so it trips 3-5 degrees past the timing mark on flywheel. Good hot mag and don't gap plugs more than 25 thou. You should be in the 50-55 hp range IF you updated to the right cam. Berry has several grinds to choose from I hope they provided one in your cube and comp range.

obviously hp is important,I meant not to get hung up on a number, sounds like his choice to do very little in terms of mods is key to then maximize efficency and what you can do to use what you do have, not a hp number.

Couple things to remember in tractor pulling......Horsepower like money won't do everything, but it's sure nice to have enough. And when going for more horsepower there's no replacement for displacement.

Use a distrubuter or with a fixed timing mag ,watch the kick back in reverse on the flywheel when she is down and lugging.
