Front tires

What's everyone running on the front of their pullers. On my Farmall M I have 4.00 /15's . Anyone running anything smaller , how they work . I got 5.00 /15's , just got to make the front end for my super M. The lower the front end ,the better?

It really in my option depends on what your tractor likes.

1.Is tractor mostly frontend light on the tracks you pull?
2.Do you have moveble weight to hold frontend down in your light class?
3.Tire size can be very small if you are making your own frontend.
4.If front is heavy --- less rake and less tire size to make front lift.
5.Make it look the way it makes you happy it is your toy...

I change my frontend off and on to several styles just to change way it looks. Some times trying to make it hook better.

Though I have seen it here now and then, I don't see an advantage to a lower front end. I see it as simply you put bigger tires on the back for better traction and smaller on the front in order to reduce weight. It just ends up being lower in front.

My JD isn't low enough in the front. USAP
RULES front rims have to be 14". Makes
weighting it harder. I think when the heavy
part [engine] gets higher than the center
of gravity. Your pull is over. Try with a
bathroom scales a 2x8 about 4 ft long and
some concrete blocks. 2 more boards to set
your tractor (blocks and board) and to
screw your chain (wire) to. You will see
the tires unload when front end.gets to
high.
So with front end lower you could wheelie
4" or so and tractor is still level.
Opinions are like belly buttons. Everybody
has one. Lol Vic

Using low profile motorcycle tires will drop you about 2 inches. You can mount
them tubeless. Ive been running them for 20 years. USAP allows.

You are checking weight on rear tires. Lay your two long boards together. They are the track. Set a concrete block sideways on them could use a short 8 inch post.on top of your scales. Then short board on top of it. Letting it stick back over fulcrum about a foot. Put a concrete block on top of other end of short board. Wedge board up 2 in. Go to other end tie a wire. Chain or strap at a angle like chain on sled. Pull front 2 inch block out. Check weight. Not wheelie your board and shorten your chain etc. Check weight. Clear as mud. Remember doesn't take much to win just .1" . Also if they are giving 50 lb. On scales be sure you take it.

I thought i follewed but I'm lost.If you do this set up again sometime can you please take a pic of set up.
1. 4' long board under rear tires__ got it...
2. scale show weight as froont lifts
3. fulcrum rear tire?
4. chain tied to end board ?

dont follow part of your responce.
Check weight. Not wheelie your board and shorten your chain etc. Check weight.

I tried to draw whole thing out on paper. I just like to try other guy idea when they are will to share. sorry for all questions.

The 4 ft board is your tractor. It is on top of 8 in post your rear tires. Put block on top of board where engine goes. Been 30 years since I done this. Don't remember exact results. Only that I wanted front lower. Not higher.

Pure physics ,pure physics, like it or not,not opinion,-- just fact.Lower center of gravity makes more stable, lifts harder, lower front helps keep it down. Some don't need that cuz the tractor might like more leverage, all are different, -- but the same we all have to figure it out,not simple or easy, but that's why we do it.
