I was looking at putting a 504 in a case 400. Looking for any information on this swap and what all needs and has to be done. Thank y'all very much

The 504 will bolt directly to the 400 bell housing you will need to use the 400 flywheel with an upgraded clutch and pressure plate. On the front half you will have to cut a hole in the ear where the block mounts up in order for the steering shaft to go through to the steering box or do like I did and build a custom wide front with a rack and pinion. You will have to also stretch the hood if I remember correctly 6 inches. Other than the hood this is a pretty straight forward swap

Thank you very much. What about transmission and rear end. Will it hold up? Also what weight will this tractor be? Give or take? Thank you

I have built a couple of different versions of the proposed tractor one was using a 1030 rearend and transmission it would make 6000 pounds easy and one with the 400 rearend it mad 5000 pounds with a 200 pound driver and 200 pounds of hanging weight, but bothe was with custom front ends. The 400 rearend will survive up to 450 horse power without much issue after that u will need to go in and needle bearing the ring and pinion and put straight cut gears in the transmission 3 gear is the week gear in the transmission it will give trouble after that 450 hp point before that don?t worry about anything it will run forever so long as you keep in mind your dealing with a 63 year old rearend and transmission and don?t get crazy

I would replace the low range gears with high range gears out of a 930. This will split gears and give you about a 30 percent reduction in 5-6-7-8. Some have used 970 flywheels to use a 14" clutch so you aren't tied to the 400's cupped flywheel. A 12" double disc would be a good set up also.
