I have a super m I'm thinking of building for pulling. What pistons will fit in the block without sleeves? Where can I find the deck rings for the top of the bore? Can the block be bored to accept 281 over bore sleeves? Will the 281 pistons fit 264 rods? Sorry for all the questions. Any help is appreciated

If you want to make this engine into a 281, all you have to do is change the the sleeves and pistons from 4" to 4 1/8" without boring. If you want
to get any bigger piston, you will have to bore the block. If you just want to raise compression and add power, look for some Firecrater or M&W
pistons and add an LP head and manifold with an M&W governor and Murphy's roller rockers. This combination will really boost your power.

how much power do you want 75 hp ? throw those sleeves away and get some 4.25 with .500 domes from extremetractor.com . if you want more he can help with that .

At one time M&W and IH made a 4 1/4" kit for the 281 engine that would also fit the 264 block. That kit also came with a kit to rebuild carb. & dist.and you had to advance the timing 22 degrees.

4.25 is approximately the block bore with
no sleeve in sm thru 450. M&W did make
pistons. Those kits used sleeves that you
bored the block. Use old sleeves, and a
machinist can make filler rings from those.
The 281 small pin pistons use a reduction
bushing in the sm rods.

This is where it's sketchy. If the
block has little casting shift in the
cylinder casting, you can go 4.375
comfortable. Like I said, use the
tops of the old sleeves as filler
rings. I cut the sleeve flanges off,
loctite them in the block, then bore
the block. You can find 306 kits
reasonably. That's a 4.310 bore. A
good 281 can make 70 plus.

Where would I find the 306 kit? I'm not finding much

Without getting into a war, my
recommendation is to find names in
this sport who build. Maybe, they take
one in on a trade in deal. I can't
remember the spelling but they was
made by aries if that's the way to
spell it.
