Morning fellows. I continue to seek guidance in entering a pull locally,and the answer I seek is this. I wish to pull bone stock at Fieldays of the past . Near Richmond sept. 15-16-17th,and they speak of the 3" hitch. I just want to bring what I got,from the field. Does a fellow have to go this route ,or can he just pull from the factory drawbar at 20 ". Just asking CM

Really need to check with group you will be participating with. Rules will vary. Many places require original drawbar with a hook eye bolted to it or a twisted clevis on original drawbar.
 
Most want a 3 inch opening for the hitch point so the hook can be put on with out a big production. Nothing worse the hooking a tractor to the sled and waiting 5 minutes while they locate a clevis. Our club just states a 3 inch hook point, be it on a custom built drawbar or a stock one with a clevis in it. We also have some with vertical bars that they hook to. Call the club president and ask him questions.
 
You should get a copy of rules where your going to pull. Our club and a club north of us in Michigan you have to pull factory draw bar in farm stock classes. Our club lets you use a twisted clevis and the one in Michigan you have to use a C clevis. both clubs say you can use washer to raise or lower clevis and both clubs say clevis has to be pined tight to draw bar. If back cover is to be used as PTO delete it has to be a factory no home made ones ( this is for farmstock classes only).

Chuck if your going to start pulling field day might not be the best place to start. Not much stock there. If you want to pull a bone stock tractor summer set or berryville. Might be a better choice also Mechanicsville, calleo. As far as the draw bar most places let you modify the draw bar. To get to the max hight and minimum from the center of the axle.
