yes I understand the rules at field days . hitch 20 high and 20 from the center of rear axle . what don't you understand call me . 804 2434158 ,my cell . I don't pull at field days but lots
of people do .

You would need to enter in the 6500 lb.
And add 200 lb. Then the 7000 lb. Class
add 700 lb. Etc. Hitch is important. Make
yours adjustable. So can always get it
20 inches high. Measure from center of
axle 20 inches back to rear of your 3.5
in hole in drawbar. I use a level and a
plum bob. Hope this is as clear as mud.

here are the rest of the pulls in Va. that I know of .
Somerset Sept.9 pure stock , one hook .
Callao Sept. 10 as many hooks as you fit . small club good one to wet your feet on
Isle of Wight Sept 16 at fair grounds
Orange Oct 14 at the Old fairgrounds of SR15 past Gordonsville
Mechanicsville Oct15 small club but fun .
email is open if you need a map or whatever .

hitch is minimum 20" from the axle centreline . If she is heavy on the front the drawbar needs to lengthened to lever some front end weight into the rear tires .

(quoted from post at 06:49:28 08/22/17) hitch is minimum 20" from the axle centreline . If she is heavy on the front the drawbar needs to lengthened to lever some front end weight into the rear tires .

B&D, lengthening the drawbar on a front heavy tractor seems to be a concept inconceivable to nearly all pullers. I know a couple guys that do it, but I think that they take care that no one sees them doing it, so that the practice is not widely known.

If I remember they pull odds on Sat and even on Sun, so you would have to pull 7K, since you can't get it to 6K, you would have to jump from 7K to 8K or 9K depending on how much tractor you have. Field Day of the Past really does not go by rules, they say antique but I,ve pulled my 1952 WD9 against a International 856 there. Drawbars are better the closer you get to axle, I've tried the long drawbar and it doesn't work. That track is pure power track too. And if you need advice on day of pull just ask. Unless you have JD, lol, just joking!

Yep,yesterday I just lengthened the drawbar 1" on a tractor that just doesnt quite pull
the front end..If that doesnt work I'll go back another 1"..The tractor has been doing fine
but I feel like theres a little more there..

Most pulls will measure the weight of the tractor with
the driver. If you weigh 6300 lb with you on the seat,
then you can only enter a class with a weight limit of
6300 lb or higher. Most likely you would start is a
6500 lb class. Some pulls will allow a grace at the
scales. You could pull 6250 lb if the rules allowed a
50 lb or higher grace. You could pull 6000 lb if the
rules allowed a 300 lb or higher grace (this is a very
large grace and highly unlikely). Good luck and
enjoy pulling.
