Hi everyone this is a question for the red diamond guys. I have a 450 ih engine that I thought was a red diamond engine, but I started looking at the engine and no where does it say red diamond on it. All it has is a ih simple and it has 2 stamps on it. One says 450 the other says 9 16 F. The serial number on the block says 215720-R1 if any body has any info that would be great thanks

I seem to remember a topic on the Red Power forum about blocks sometimes being cast outside the Company which did not have the triple diamond insignia. I have two 269s and neither one says "Blue Diamond". The number you gave does not seem like a serial number. It should have a prefix like RD or RED, and is stamped on a machined pad on the left side of the block, at the front, just below the head. A Red Diamond has a real short valve cover, and the rocker shaft is below the top of the head.

That is the casting # for the 450 and 406 block. I have both blocks and they have the same #. There is a flat spot on top of the block that is between the #1&2 cylinders on the left that would of had RD 450 stamped. If it has been remanned sometimes they ground the #'s off
