Ford N series for pulling

You hardly ever see the little fords at the pulls is there a reason for it. Are they underpowered? I know the 9 and the 2 don't have a drawbar but I put one on mine thanks for the info

Depends on where you're pulling and
track, sled, etc. Yes, for the most
part: power is a problem as well as
high gearing. Also the flathead
engine is limited on what can be done

You don't see them often, but I have seen them competitive in a 2500-2750 class. I think that the biggest factor is the rarity that an enthusiast will come with one. Usually it is just the local food plot guy, and he does nothing in the way of set up. I have talked to a few and once in a great while they have enough interest to get it set up and come back the following year and can do well.

(quoted from post at 19:46:02 07/03/17) The 900 and 901's seem to be good pullers.

Those Ford 172s had pretty much the highest power to weight ration in their class at the time. But time, technology, and dollars wipes that out pretty well.

I pull a 1952 8N with a HI-LO Sherman in the 2500 and 3000# classes. The Sherman is the
secret.I pull in Low 2nd gear, with 13.6 rubber. It is a very competitive tractor in these 4MPH classes.Pulled a first place last pull out of 8 tractors. We pull against other
Fords,BF Molines, AC C and Super C Farmalls.
