how much power will oliver 88 handle

wondering if any one knows how much power an Oliver 77 88 or super 77 or super 88 rear end could handle? just got a wild hair of putting a deere 404
out of a combine in one and wonder if rear end would handle 150 to 200 hp? also any one have any idea if this would be possible with out a lot of
screwing around or if it would fit in the frame? i know i would have to fab mounts but what about the clutch and drive shaft not sure what would work
there, also looking at the radiator in dads 77 it would be a struggle to keep it cool i think.

any thoughts ideas or others are welcome

Know of several 88 series running 500 plus cubic inches. Biggest problem I am aware of is breaking 5 th gear.

the problem with any older chassis is weak cast gears, solution is another box between engine and tranny,or never, ever never use all the power,-- torque the new engine makes, many guys out east run 6 - 7 hundred hp thru this type tractor with little trouble,I have pulled with some guys that broke their gears by lugging down at the end.And a car engine does not have the torque rise a well built tractor engine does, torque is what breaks stuff.I have an 88 that is very capable and not had any problems,--yet,knocking on wood here. Jumping and jerking is a problem.Just saying, a lot of 600 ci Olivers,M's and others work well, just be sensible.Look at the 800 engine put in MM's they seldom break.
