Last fall I took out a good running 77 engine and got a 310 gas bolted in. The 310 is stock with a rebuilt head and came out of a 1850. It starts and idles good but seems to lean out when I crack the throttle. With about 1/2 choke I can crack the throttle and it will spin up like it should. Without the choke it stumbles hard. The carb has a new accelerator diaphragm in it and it has a number 4.0 jet underneath the float bowl cover, is that the main jet? The carb didn't come with the engine as the original was kept by the person I bought the engine from. Vacuum advance is hooked up and its timed at idle rpm. Maybe I should a different carb?
