I'm building 2 more pulling motors before I step away my friends looking for a 350-400 ci build on farmall m motor with super m block and I'm looking to do same of do jd 60 build , I have ideas. On both but open to suggestions , I realize jd will cost more

c281 block bore to 4.310 and stroke to 7 inches effective hp 110 at 540 and your wish 409 cubic inches and it's nothing radical , no hard blocking . flat top pistons and a lp head with roller rockers will give you 11.7 to 1 . so there it is build it . just my .02 .

Seen 270psi cranking psi on a 406 with lp head. New 450 cam, stock rockers. I wouldn't use lp head, unless it's a hard core squeeze every hp out of it all the time.
If that's a plan, then get billet main caps and pray.

Problem is with that much cranking pressure is that the cam does not match the mechanical compression ratio.
Tell your friendly local cam grinder what your intend and they will adjust the lift and duration to match AND make more power.

About the 60. I saw a A JD a few weeks ago win the 6mph class I think was at 5000lb. It ran real good, maybe as good as a 600 cu, M He said was a Murphy motor. So I'm saying start with a A and put your 60 sheet metal on it. Just a thought.
