Have you ever seen the Transfer Sled they use for the Kid's Pedal Tractor Pulls..??

That may give you some ideas also...

I am sure we have pictures somewhere. Ours was built on a ton truck axle. Two 4" channel about 12 ft long. Our box was 2' square filled with railroad rails. Pulled it up with a no. 60 roller chain. Used a coal stoker gear box to run the box up. Sled was about 4' square. It was mounted hard to the rails. Had a pipe tongue that sliped into the sled. With the box all the way back. A strong guy could raise it up and hook to a truck. Clear as mud huh! It broke at a pull once. Took awhile to fix it in the dark. We quit and sold out. Oh had a seat and controls on left rear corner.
