I have seen a AC 426 engine for sale that had a 466 ihc crank in it. Ad said engine had a 5.5 in stroke. Does anyone on here know hard to do this is. Hard to believe engines are close enough to each other to do this.

Thanks guys. Don't think I will try it. Going to put it back together almost stock. Will make a good conversation piece but won't run with the big dogs. The intake ports are just to poor to make big power.

The ports are not as bad as the look. A good head shop can do a wonderful job. That is someone that knows how to move air fast and not grind out the head and slow air down. That is what everyone thinks needs to be done. In head work bigger is not better. I seen head flow less air but move it faster and make a lot more power also.

Have head at good place I think. Have increased flow almost 30 percent. But that is just 180 cfm. Doesn't do any good to open valves wider than .400 like air hits a wall. Everybody says they need a turbo.

cfm is what everyone worries about, When they should worry about how fast air is moving. Those engines stock (426)made as much power as other do using more cubic inches(466), larger pumps and turbos.

I did talk to him. That's why I am down on the project. Just can't compete with a IHC natural aspired.

Sorry to hear max couldn't help you. I certainly would have thought there was a better head available if not the necessary tricks to get the original head to flow a lot better. I was looking forward to seeing your Allis project chase down the Farmalls.

Indy head (speed shop) made heads for AC's years ago. But they don't know where one is. Will call if he finds one.
