460 pto removal for puller

I have a 460 split that Im building... Im putting in new heavy duty ta... I would like to remove the pto shafts from front to all the way out the back... but Im curious how the planetarys in the ta would get lube if the shaft isn't there below to sling oil up to ta housing. would it be better to just leave the shaft there and remove pto off the back... Ive got it apart and would be nice to take the shafts out and remove weight gain horse power. It would be a lot less rotating mass but Im just afraid the ta would end up running dry... the hyd pump is also going to be removed so Im thinking its not possible to remove the shafts unless someone has some pointers to point me in the right direction... I thought about sealing off the hole in the ta housing and filling with oil from top cover and putting a magnet in there but this would be worse than just leaving shaft in in my opinion. advice would be appreciated. thanks

Here is my 1 1/2 cents worth, I left it all in mine for the lube. The total weight gain is not more than 30#s if that and I didn't feel there would be much HP loss! I just removed the rear unit and the shaft going up between the bull gears.

We have run for 4 years with everything removed with no issues and have inspected since. The planetarys get lubed from a trough in the speed transmission that runs to the TA gear section and fills to a level then drains back to the transmission.

I guess Im not following what your saying. I don't see how the front/ wet half of the ta would be lubed from transmission unless it was coming from the bottom thru the oil passage on the right hand side of ta housing... if the pto shafts underneath were removed how would oil be slung up into the ta planetary bath? . I understand that they sit in the bath my concern is how to keep oil in there if the pto shafts are removed. did you just remove pto off the back or all the shafts out of the transmission and the ta housing? sounds to me like your saying that oil will flow thru the center of the ta from the transmission to the planetary but that isn't possible since the clutch portion of the ta is dry?

We removed every gear and shaft from the IPTO shaft at the pressure plate out the back. The front half of the TA is dry and with no oil slinging around by removing the gears we don't need an input shaft seal. There is a seal for the TA right behind the dry clutch. The parts you are talking about would never lube the TA wet side anyway because the housing is split in two seperate compartments from top to bottom. The oil from the trough in the transmission runs through the back housing into the TA one way clutch carrier through all the planetary gears and is leaked out into the upper housing. The oil is self leveling due to a passage going to the lower side of the TA section where the PtO shaft once was.
