For you that pull WD45 is there enough of an advantage to go with electronic ignition? Also do you have to use a different coil?

I prefer the electronic ignition over points, however there is nothing wrong with points. The coil is recommended and to use the flame thrower 3 ohm coil, I was told if you don't it will burn up the coil. My neighbor has the electronic ignition and had stock coil and it work but then it quit not sure the reason as he had multiple problems going on in the meantime he installed the flame thrower coil and it worked. I have had one for ten years with no problem and if you factor in say maybe two sets of points its not much more money.

Plus
Good points are getting pricey, and even the good ones I don't think are as good as they once were so I was told. It makes the cost of electronic ignition reasonable.
no maintenance
if the machine is left outside in elements you do not have to worry about corrosion on points.

minus
you have to make sure you shut your key off when not in use. I know a guy who left key on overnight and the pick up was lined up with magnet fryed the coil and unit.

Are there any real advantages to running a electronic ignition . Like a hotter spark at low end RPM.Do you pick up an all around better performace with it.
