murphys intake manifold

We also have 1650 manifold on our 88 puller. 283 cubes. Big carb. Murphy's rockers and also had Jeff at Murphy's custom grind a cam for us. Setup works ok but needs more air. Made a couple of hooks without the air cleaner and it helped. Will be looking into one of his manifolds or possibly making our own.

300jk, Thanks for the input. Were you happy with the roller rockers? Did you notice a difference?Ipull in 4mph classes. Would like to degree my cam. How much did Jeff charge for cam work? I currently dyno 72 hp with 265 cubes. looking for more torque. Thanks

We put the rockers in at the same time as the new cam. The cam that was in the tractor was supposed to be a puller grind for little over stock rpm. Rules at pulls around here are usually set up for 3000 rpm not a speed limit. Where we can we run more rpm around 4200 off the line and tractor settles down to around 3500. So our cam is set up for around 3000 rpm and to work with the rockers. We were pretty happy with them. With our cam grind head work was required for valves as far as stiffer springs and clearance issues. As far as I know he needs a stock cam to start with. We had to buy one from Maibachs in Ohio and sent it directly to Jeff. Stock cam was a little over 100 I believe and to have it ground 200- 300 ? Can't remember exactly. Our biggest problem now is getting more air.

Tanks 300jk, I also use Maibach's, there 15 min. from my house. I am allowed 20% over stock, put's me at 2100 rpm. My best range for me is between 1600-1800 rpm.I have prices for regrinding and there around 600$. I should probably call Jeff and see. Thanks again.
