Light front end

Looking for a way to lighten my 49 88 front end. Would like to use lighter hubs and rims any help is appreciated.

I made seven ## hubs,cost 35 bucks,thick wall tubing,oilite bushings,a friends lathe,welded on 1/4 inch plates,16 inch spare tires,three bucks each

Will a 66 front end allow me to use pressed steel or aluminum rims?

No the 66 front end still a uses 6 bolt wheels. But you can get 3.5"x 15" 6 bolt wheels and they are as light or lighter than the aluminum wheels. The 66 front end will looses about 40# over the 88 if both have the 6 bolt hubs

You can just use 5 on 5 trailer hubs. We measured the 66 axle and the trailet hub. Used sealed bearings. Not wheel bearings. Then some old fashion craigers.
